In a bold move toward cleaner streets, global giant MAN Truck & Bus has inked a game-changing deal to spark electric bus production in Azerbaijan. Bustling Baku streets humming with zero-emission rides, cutting pollution and slashing fuel costs. That’s the electrifying vision taking shape, thanks to a fresh partnership that’s set to transform urban travel in the region.

The excitement kicked off in Baku, where MAN joined forces with longtime ally Improtex Trucks & Buses, the official MAN hub in Azerbaijan since 2005 and key government officials. Together, they’ve signed a key agreement to set up on-site assembly of cutting-edge electric buses. These aren’t just any vehicles; they’re MAN’s sleek Lion’s City E models, designed for smooth, silent journeys that keep cities breathable.

Here’s how it works: The buses will arrive in semi-built kits from abroad, ready for final touches by local teams right in Azerbaijan. From wiring the batteries to rigorous road tests, every step happens on home soil. MAN’s experts will roll up their sleeves too, offering hands-on training and tech know-how to nail top-notch quality. Over time, the plan is to weave in more homegrown parts, boosting jobs and skills in the process.
Come 2026, the first fleet of these eco-warriors will hit Azerbaijan’s roads, marking a huge leap for sustainable rides. “This deal flips the page on our global teamwork,” beamed Alexander Vlaskamp, MAN’s top boss. “Azerbaijan’s push for green cities matches our electromobility smarts perfectly. Hand in hand, we’re crafting smarter, cleaner ways to get around.”

Echoing the buzz, Barbaros Oktay, MAN’s bus division lead, added: “We’re eyeing big wins beyond Europe. Teaming with rock-solid local players like in Azerbaijan unlocks massive growth and we’re all in.”
This isn’t just business; it’s a blueprint for tomorrow’s cities. With electric buses leading the charge, Azerbaijan is fast-tracking its green goals, easing traffic woes and fighting climate change head-on. Expect ripple effects: fewer smoky exhausts, happier commuters, and a blueprint other nations can copy. As the assembly lines rev up, one thing’s clear, the future of transport is electric, efficient, and arriving soon in the Caucasus.
Stay tuned as this powerhouse project powers forward, your next bus ride might just be emission-free!
